Naomi Howarth was born and brought up in Edinburgh, Scotland, and studied Costume for Performance at the London College of Fashion before pursuing a career in illustration. Naomi’s illustrations combine lithography with watercolour, and she has a strong interest in myth, legend and folklore.
Naomi’s books tell timeless and meaningful tales that engage young readers to think about the inspiring wonder of the natural world. She is passionate about promoting reading and has worked with Pop Up, and has participated in numerous literary festivals around the country. Her debut picture book The Crow’s Tale was shortlisted for the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize in 2015.
Her second book Tug of War was selected for the Financial Times ‘Best Books of 2017’ and for The Telegraph’s ’50 Best Books of the Year’ 2017.
