Helen Lipscombe grew up in Wales, studied at Exeter College of Art and Design and went on to work in agencies in London, Singapore and the Caribbean. She recently obtained an MA in Creative Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University and now lives in the Cotswolds with her family. Peril en Pointe is her first novel.
Helen is available for festival events, school events and book shop appearances. Helen will talk about the inspiration and research behind her novel and how she came to combine ballet and spies to create this thrilling new series. She will also demonstrate how music can be used to inspire children to make stories, using classical to contemporary music as a starting point – like many writers she listens to music before she writes. By asking the children what emotions, places, people, seasons are evoked when they listen to different pieces of music, the words that they use to describe these things will help them to create a new character, setting, or genre for a story, helping to show there are many ways to spark their own story.Submit an Enquiry
