Area Sales Manager – The Midlands

Bounce is the leading specialist sales agency for children’s books, representing some of the best independent children’s publishers. We have a track record of strong sales not only to bookshops but also to a wide variety of non–trade customers and of seeking out new markets for our growing list of Publishers.

We are looking for someone with experience of selling Children’s Books to look after this important territory. The area currently spans from Oxford and Reading in the South to Chester and Chesterfield to the North. The successful candidate will be responsible for all sales in the territory other than a few key accounts handled by head office.

Experience and Qualities Required

• Experience of selling books either on behalf of a publisher or in a retail environment is essential.
• A sales background in selling children’s books and a good knowledge of Children’s Publishing will be an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of building strong relationships with customers.
• The ability as a self-starter to work independently and manage a personal work schedule across the territory, both through regularly visiting accounts and through planned digital and on-line selling.
• Good IT skills and an understanding of the opportunities presented by social media.
• Sound commercial awareness and an appetite for developing new business with current customers and opening new accounts.

This will be a challenging and exciting role joining what The Bookseller called a ‘crackerjack sales team’. It is particularly suited to a children’s bookseller looking to move into a sales role in publishing.
